Aluxes (or aluxo’ob) are small mythological creatures in the Yucatan peninsula that are generally invisible but are able to assume physical form as resembling miniature traditionally dressed Maya people. While they are usually invisible, they can choose to appear to humans when they feel like being playful or mischievous.
Aluxes are said to protect many Mayan villages and areas that still exist to this day. Legends say, if you build them a small house, they will look after your land for seven years. Many believe that these aluxes will help crops grow, call on the rain, and guard your land at night.

Rivera is a plastic artist and gallerist of Manuk Gallery at San Miguel de Allende. Who has developed a technique that mixes a wide variety of tools and mediums to create her artworks.

Born in Mexico city but lived most of her life in San Diego, CA where she painted and showed at different artists studios and galleries in California and Tijuana.

A sensitive woman attracted by the colors of nature and the world that surrounds her, she is always creating artworks that evoke emotions and hide organic forms or cityscapes between the brushstrokes and the textures she creates.

Her work that a few years ago was based on minuscule detail followed by realism now frees itself into a world full of textures where you can find the essence of nature as well as shapes that surround our daily life.
